What is a river table?
A river table has a channel through the middle, filled with coloured resin so it looks like water running between two banks of timber. We also build tables with the natural live edge of the slab left on, and tables with no resin at all.
How does a commission work?
- Talk. Tell Frank the size, the room and the look you want. Visit the stall or send an enquiry.
- Choose. Pick the slab, the resin colour and the base.
- Build. The table is cut, shaped, poured and sanded in our workshop.
- Finish. The table is oiled and prepared for delivery or collection.

How long does it take?
It depends on the slab, the size and how much resin goes in, because resin needs time to cure before the table is sanded and oiled. Frank will give you a time frame when you choose your slab.
Ask about delivery or collection when you order.
Which timbers do the tables use?
Past tables include jarrah, marri and sheoak slabs. Jarrah is deep red-brown. Marri runs from honey to pink with gum veins. Sheoak is golden with dark rays. Our timber guide compares them.
Questions people ask
Can I choose the resin colour?
Yes. Past tables use turquoise, blue and grey resin. Tell us the colour you want and we will show you how it sits against the timber.
Can I bring my own slab?
Ask us. We can advise whether your slab suits a table.
What base do the tables use?
Bases so far include solid timber legs, black steel X-legs, trapezoid legs and hairpin legs. The base is part of the design conversation.
Do you make furniture other than tables?
Yes. Past pieces include benches, a waterfall desk, a wine cabinet, wine racks and coat-hook boards. See the gallery.
