Questions people ask
Where can I buy a Boards by Frank board?
At the Swan Settlers Markets, 124 Lennard Rd, Herne Hill, every Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 5pm. You can also send an enquiry.
Can I buy online?
No. Every piece is one of a kind, so come and see it at Swan Settlers Markets, Saturday and Sunday 10am to 5pm.
What does second-life timber mean?
It means timber that would otherwise be thrown away: offcuts and salvaged slabs. We turn them into boards and tables. Read more about how we work.
Can you make a board or table to my size?
Yes. We can make any size or style you have in mind. Give us the dimensions and the timber you prefer. For furniture, see made to order.
Can a board be engraved?
Yes. We can engrave names, dates and short messages. Tell us the wording when you enquire.
Which timbers do you use?
Mostly Western Australian jarrah, marri and sheoak. The timber guide explains how they look and what they suit.
Are the boards food safe?
Yes. Each board is finished with food-safe oil and beeswax. See the care guide for how to keep it that way.
Can I put a timber board in the dishwasher?
No. Heat and water dry out timber and can crack or warp it. Wash by hand and dry straight away.
Do you deliver or post?
It depends on the piece and where you live. Ask when you enquire, and we will confirm how and when.
How do I look after a river table?
Wipe spills quickly, use mats under hot dishes and keep it out of strong sun. The table care section has more.
